Momma's Favorite Apple Crisp

This dessert is a family favorite in the fall with a few healthier changes!
  • 5 medium to large apples, peeled and cut into slices
  • ½ cup honey
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 tablespoon orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • Topping:
  • 2 cups old fashioned oatmeal
  • ½ cup flaxseed meal
  • 7 tablespoons vegan butter, melted
  • ⅔ cup brown sugar
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine oatmeal, flaxseed, brown sugar and melted butter. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, place apple slices, honey, lemon, lemon zest, orange juice, ground cinnamon, and nutmeg in a large bowl and toss until well combined.
  4. Place in a large casserole and top with oatmeal topping.
  5. Bake for 35-40 minutes.
  6. Let cool, serve, and enjoy.
